LA can sometimes be an overwhelming cesspool of humanity (to steal a phrase from B. Williams), but it’s the little things which make the city so fucking awesome. Like Ooga Booga. Neeta and I stopped by yesterday afternoon in foul moods, only to re-emerge with smiles and in my case, a Calvin Johnson made mixtape. I went with the mix entitled “We Will Bury You,” female new wave/punk 1977-82. It’s amazing. I want to go back and get more!

Ooga Booga is officially my happy place in LA. Music, books, zines, clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. And nice employees. And pictures of cats. I couldn’t really ask for more.
