It is damn near impossible for me to disassociate Modest Mouse from the doucheyness oozing out of Isaac Brock’s every pore, not to mention the rape allegations. Still, dude is a mean songwriter. Which is why I have found the perfect solution in Sun Kil Moon’s Tiny Cities, the 2005 album of Modest Mouse covers. Mark Kozelek tones down the manic delivery of the originals, allowing Brock’s crushing lyrics to take center stage (minus his douchey voice!), and yes, this means things get kinda sloooow sometimes, but slow is how I’m rolling these days.

In honor of Father’s Day, some songs my dad introduced me to growing up. As weird as it probably sounds, to this day whenever I hear Sisters of Mercy, I think of him. Love you Dad.

And in a twist of total cosmic weirdness, the Stone Roses homemade vid was filmed in the town we used to live in/mall we frequented when I was a lil kiddo.
