Awesome Sister Mantos interview by Young Creature!!!

“I really strive to make the live show an experience, something real trippy and fun. The performance is an experiment where i get to let the music take control and put me in a trance, sometimes i don’t even remember what happens. I also perform without my glasses so usually i can’t even see what’s going on. But I still have a sort of trajectory that i want to work with, its about trying to create a shamanic expereince with a sense of humor and making people DANCE! Im trying to tap into a primal energy.”

So last night, we had a late night, super fast Sweetheart Society/Sister Mantos planning session about the upcoming vinyl pressing, during which I said important things like “Do you think you’ll cry when the album comes out?  ‘Cause I totally will.”  In the midst of this, we discovered that MP3s are now available for download on iTunes, Napster, and Amazon!!  Much rejoicing and distraction from aforementioned planning session ensued.

Join us on the last Monday of every month for an evening of new 10 min experimental performances by queer artists. Dedicated to providing a consistent venue for the development of new queer work, Queer Mondays is an uncurated performance lab on a first come first serve basis. Open to all artistic disciplines including music, performance art, psychologizing, spoken word, drag, video work, visual art, new media, poetry, ritual, and dance and featuring performances by local Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual, and Homo-Ally Queer artists.
