Yesterday I had the pleasure of hanging out with an old co-worker and friend from San Francisco. Besides playing major catch up, we visited the Getty and saw the Engaged Observers exhibit. Awesome! While all of the work was moving and often times disturbing, I can’t stop thinking about Mary Ellen Mark’s photographs of runaways in Seattle in the 1980s.

Also memorable were the Girl Culture photos by Lauren Greenfield, documenting the negative effects of popular culture on self-image.
